April is recognized throughout the country as Fair Housing Month. This year, we commemorate the 55th anniversary of the passage of the Fair Housing Act, a national law that prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental and financing of housing based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, and disability.

The City of Maricopa recognizes the significance of the Fair Housing Act and reconfirm their commitment to upholding fair housing law as well as affirmatively further fair housing.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO) has a website with detailed information on the law.Link:HUD – Fair Housing Rights and Obligations
