The Maricopa Police Department quarterly awards ceremony was held at the Maricopa Library and Cultural center last week. Chief James Hughes and Commander Stephen Judd were on hand to speak about the importance of the awards and to honor the recipients personally. "This is one of the better parts of my job, to recognize those for a job well done," said Chief Hughes. "Recognition is very important and we want to ensure everyone knows just what their efforts mean to us as a team as well as to our community." The awards issued during this quarter's ceremony were as follows:
Chief’s Coin for Outstanding Service - Ofc. Michael Ewald - Brenda Hasler - Megan Dickerson Commander's Coin for Outstanding Service - Sgt. Jenny Soto Commendation for Firearms Training - Ofc. Logan Szczepaniec - Ofc. Adam Pittman - Lt. Kathy Elliott - Sgt. Chance Jordan Numerous members of the MPD volunteer team were recognized as well. The final awards of the afternoon went to the officers and civilians that showed outstanding service during the third quarter. From the commission officers side, Nicholas Awald was awarded officer of the quarter and Michael Dennison was awarded sergeant of the quarter. Ronile Volwiler won the civilian of the quarter and Mardell Sandstrom was honored as volunteer of the quarter.
