First impressions mean everything when it comes to Maricopa. When people live here, we want them to be proud of their community. When people pass through, we want them to brag about their experience in their own local communities. When you drive down John Wayne Parkway or through the City’s newest streets, you can thank individuals like Troy Weed in Public Works for their efforts to keep Maricopa beautiful. “I live in this city; therefore, I love this city,” said Weed, “Everybody here really cares about what they’re doing.” It’s a professional homecoming for Troy, he was part of the Public Works team before in 2020. He left for another career opportunity, but shortly after that decision, Troy realized he belonged back in Maricopa. “I thought that was going to be a better avenue,” Weed described, “But, it turns out this city has been calling me ever since.” So in March of this year, Troy stepped back into the saddle at Public Works where he was highly valued by his previous supervisors. One of his current supervisors, Daniel Leonard, said the team was excited to welcome back a familiar face representing the best of Maricopa. “Troy has such a positive attitude,” said Leonard, “His willingness to help wherever he can, is a huge asset for our team that works so hard collectively every day to make Maricopa shine.” It can be long days and hard hours for one of the City’s dirtiest jobs. But the next time you see one of the street sweepers go by, know that they genuinely enjoy making Maricopa’s first impression a memorable one. “I love going around and making a difference,” smiled Weed, “Knowing I have something to do with what we’re doing here; making the city look great.” Welcome back home Troy, we’re glad you’re back where we all believe you belong.
